Marcy Mayne. The Generation Game Inspired By South London's Windrush

Meet the Mind Behind The Windrush Generation Game:

Marcy Mayne, the visionary behind the company, leads us. A proud Trench Town graduate, Marcy was born in Portland, Jamaica, and raised in the heart of Kingston before moving to the UK at the age of six. With roots steeped in culture and resilience, she brings a suitcase full of stories and a passion for education and community empowerment.

Marcy currently works in Special Educational Needs as an EHCP Coordinator, helping children and families access the support they need. She was never one to shy away from a challenge. Still, she pursued higher education later in life, earning a first-class undergraduate degree in Managing International Business and a postgraduate degree in Business Administration during the COVID lockdown.

Her creativity, academic drive, and lived experience are the foundation of everything she builds. As a writer, business owner, and self-proclaimed "box-breaker," Marcy leads with heart, purpose, and a commitment to honouring the Windrush legacy through meaningful storytelling and play.

Why This Initiative Matters?

This project began after a neighbour of Marcy's heartfelt request to help his sons, of mixed English and Black Caribbean heritage, connect with their lost cultural roots following the passing of their mother, who was also of mixed heritage. She recognised the deep impact of heritage loss, especially on young people. The initiative aims to preserve and share stories that bridge generations, ensuring that identity, culture, and history are never forgotten, even in the face of personal tragedy.

A Tribute to Sam King

This game also honours Marcy's grand-uncle, Sam King, a World War II RAF veteran and one of the first passengers on the HMT Empire Windrush in 1948. As a passionate advocate for the Caribbean community and unity across the UK, his courage and dedication to inclusion continue to inspire this project. Through this tribute, the legacy of Sam King and the entire Windrush Generation is preserved, celebrated, and remembered.
